 I was bussed to school every year until high school, when I had to get myself there. Yeah, some of the schools were bad, but the idea was to equalize the pain and bring all the schools up. We haven't gotten there. The idea of funding schools through real estate taxes doesn't work, because poor communities get poor schools and the cycle continues. Students and funding continue to be pulled out of public schools in favor of private and church schools. Times have changed. We all have changed. This is 2019. Let’s work on the present and the future. I'm glad I was bussed and went to integrated schools in the late 70s and early 80s South. I spent time with other children I might otherwise have never known.

As a person of colour, I believe bussing was a bad idea and a complete disaster for ppl of colour. What should've been done was to give more resources to underfunded and underresourced schools, whatever the ethnic or racial make up of the school. Forcing ppl to live together who do not want to share the same space is a very, very, bad idea. And black businesses suffered the most and many were wiped out because of it. Her father was a Stanford university professor and her mother was a cancer researcher. She’s full of hypocrisy to win votes!
