 New York advertising executive Erwin Swann (1906-1973) established the Swann Foundation for Caricature and Cartoon in 1967. An avid collector, Swann assembled a large group of original drawings by 400 artists, spanning two centuries, which his estate bequeathed to the Library of Congress in two installments in 1974 and 1977. Swann's original purpose was to compile a collection of original drawings by significant humorous and satiric artists and to encourage the study of original cartoon and caricature drawings as works of art. The emphasis on original works serves two purposes: to preserve art that is too often lost or casually destroyed and to foster critical appreciation for aesthetic qualities such as draftsmanship, subtlety of line and wash in artists’ original drawings--qualities that are lost in reproductions.   This is what competent leadership looks like. Leaders that choose science-based facts over theories will always be successful. The's been hounded by the Murdoch and right-wing media (80% + media here) with some disgusting ploys and disinformation highly politicized this man has a skin of steel by the way America. The city of Melbourne in the state of Victoria in Australia is in full lockdown has been for a long time now. The city will die. Curfews 9pm till 5am. It’s a movie it’s silent. And the people are getting held hostage? People are not being held hostage, we can still get food, go-to essential work, exercise, and help people that need help. Curfew was needed because too many people were having illegal parties and spreading the virus. In another future pandemic maybe. People have already dug in over the evolution of the attempted mitigation up to now. Doing that would just cause more political volatility.
